Can someone please tell me why it is some individuals seem to get all the hits in life??
By hits I mean bad things seem to happen to them at alarmingly frequent intervals and hardly ever any good ones! How is one person supposed to cope with such a large amount of bad events that another average individual can be fortunate enough to avoid for the majority of their lives!?
I dont mean to be a little black rain cloud here but i have noticed, over the last few days especially, that for certain people I know only bad things seem to happen to them, and they happen at an alarmingly frequent rate.
Im not even talking about things you could say were their fault, these are things totally out of their control.
Why is it some people have such good fortune in life as to avoid deaths of close reations or friends untill much later on in life? why do some people seem to suffer all the abuse for who they are or what they do or believe in and others avoid it completely? Why do some people get the reaccuring illnesses all through their life and others avoid health issues completely untill the day they die. I just dont get how these things are doled out!
I know that God has plans for us all and that everything is sent to test us, but often I wonder why these tests aren't spread out slightly more evenly! I mean look at Job, prime example here, I know its not a very fair example but then I'm not in a very fair mood right now. Don't worry I'm not blaming God at all for any of this quite the contrary infact, I guess I'm just ranting at the unfairness of the world sometimes and how sin has just screwed up everything God intended for us!
One thing I cant answer though is Why some people get all the bad things hitting them and others dont!

Good question. I don't think that we're supposed to know the answer, and I think that part of the whole issue of living in a fallen world is that the whole world is fallen, not just the individuals who seem more bad than the rest. All I know is that everyone suffers, and it's hard to compare what people go through because everyone is different. But like you said, God is with us all the time and He has the plans for us, Jeremiah 29 v11. We just don't understand most of the time.
Hrmm it is a very intersting thought. I think the mistake is perhaps trying to ask why. I think the 'test' argument is slightly flawed, as it presents this image of a 'testing' God which is not quite true. We are definitely tested by them but i would say that was their purpose if you get what i mean. With regards to the why...Job 38-41 is God's reply when Job challenges him. Its a difficult stance to have-but i guess there really is no way we will ever understand-but we should trust God, who is beyond our understanding.
By the way, interesting drama written by Rob Lacey, who died recently of cancer, on this subject...could lend it if you are really interested?
