Choices...

I have been thinking alot this week about things we have to do in life, things that are necessary - eating, drinking, breathing. These things are a necessary part of our lives, they are vital to our survival.
Choices however are things that are not necessary. They can be important and even crucial but essentially we could go one of two ways when making a decision or choice. Think what would happen for example, if we made the choice not to breath...things would go horribly wrong very quickly right?
The point I am trying to make is that it has made me think alot over the last month that when we make a choice...any choice, our life is change according to that choice. If we chose option A our life would turn out this way or your decision could affect someone one way but if you chose option B your choice could affect them in a completely different way and your life could turn on a totally different path.

The realisation I have come to recently, is that without the knowledge I have that ultimatly my God controls my life and that my decisions are made in the knowledge of his will and purpose for me, life would be a very scary thing. The knowledge that I could make my life one thing or a totally different thing with just one choice is scary. Often in retrospect we see a decision was totally wrong (or the opposite) but at the time it can seem such a good choice.
The point I am trying to make is eluding me right now but you can probably summerise for yourselves what I'm talking about. Decisions are hard and our choices often affect others as well as ourselves so we need to be careful and thoughtful about them. One good example is the choice to buy fairtrade or not....just think of the consequences of either choice....see what I mean?

Thats all for now, hopefully I wont be as long writing next time...

I am reading all your blogs at 2am and finding myself writing philosophical comments on all of them. I think sometimes we step out in faith, sometimes logic, sometimes chance and sometimes stupidity or sin and make a choice. Choices are important, some more than others, most more than we realise but often I think it is more about how you live the choice than the original choice we made. The choice to choose Life (Jesus) in everything, each day and then walking by faith is really the best we can do. To live without God would be scary if you started thinking about things like choices.
